Trek Quantum
Released fall 2023
In order to make the best products, I make sure to go above and beyond by putting myself in the place of the user — in this case, riding the ride.
Marquette, MI (Left):
Our test ride trip in Marquette allowed our team to test both our helmets and our competitors’ in the field. The experience inspired a list of updates, and the bike shop interviews clarified which features we needed to add to set Trek’s MTB line apart.
Granby, CO (Right):
Dozering up hills and down black lines in Granby, I made a solo trip to the heart of MTB country. I interviewed dealers in nearby towns and discovered new key competitors, additional issues with our helmets that needed to be addressed, and gained firsthand experience that our Marquette trip lacked — including a couple of serious falls that better justified some much-needed updates.
Design Challenges
Designing the MTB helmets wasn’t the hard part — staying in sync as a team was. Coming right after the peak of COVID, everyone’s schedules were all over the place, and finding time to collaborate was tough. We had to keep tweaking our designs in small ways to make sure all three helmets still looked and felt like they belonged together.
